STING, BRIAN WILSON, JAMES TAYLOR AND BILLY JOEL TEAM UP FOR NYC RAINFOREST BENEFIT

Sting's charity concert at New York City's Carnegie Hall to celebrate the Rainforest Foundation Fund on Thursday night (May 8th), turned into a family affair for its participants, according to Rolling Stone. The bi-annual show also featured headliners Billy Joel, Brian Wilson, James Taylor, and Feist.

During the concert, Sting's daughter Coco Sumner performed a solo song, Billy Joel dueted with his daughter Alexa Ray Joel on his 1986 song "Baby Grand," and James Taylor's two children with Carly Simon, Ben and Sally Taylor, both performed and then joined Taylor on his 1971 classic "You Can Close Your Eyes."

  • Highlights included Sting and Clarence Clemons teaming up on the Soul Brothers Six's "Some Kind Of Wonderful"; Sting accompanied by Dustin Hoffman on piano while singing an original tune of Hoffman's; Sting and Billy Joel dueting on the Beatles' "Strawberry Fields Forever"; Sting, Joel and Taylor singing the Byrds' "Turn, Turn, Turn"; Brian Wilson singing the Beach Boys' "God Only Knows" with Sting and "Fun, Fun, Fun," with Taylor; and all the generations teaming up for a rendition of Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young's "Teach Your Children."
  • Sting was thrilled with the multigenerational slant of this year's show, saying, "It was very emotional. Coco was amazing. Alexa and the Taylors were fantastic. It's evolution at work. And they're better than we are."
  • The Police will perform tomorrow night (May 13th) in Kansas City, Missouri at the Sprint Center.
  • James Taylor kicks off his next series of shows on May 22nd in Virginia Beach, Virginia at the Verizon Wireless Virginia Beach Amphitheater.
  • Billy Joel will next perform on May 23rd in Uncasville, Connecticut at the Mohegan Sun Arena.
  • Brian Wilson's next U.S. show is set for July 11th at New York City's Hammerstein Ballroom.
